CRICKET.

OPENING OF SEASON. HIGH SCHOOL DEFEATS JUNIORS. Although the weather was not too favourable on Saturday, a goodly number of cricketers, rolled up at Nelson Park, Napier, and had their first “bat” of the season. The wickets on the Park have not yet been prepared on account of the recent rains, but judging by the enthusiasm displayed the season promises to be a very successful one. On the Recreation ground the first match of the season was played, when High School met and defeated rather easily a combined junior team. High School showed very good form and when the season commences in earnest this club should certainly show a very good average. Following are the scores: — HIGH SCHOOL. First Innings. M.
