CROWNING OF QUEEN. I Tho voting for the Queen Carnival, organised by the combined Bowling, Croquet and Tennis Club to raise funds I concluded at 1 p.m. to-day and result- , ed in Miss Peggy Edgecumbe, the Croquet Club’s candidate being elected 1 queen. . Tho other two candidates for ’ tho bowling and tennis clubs. Misses I Sybil Rush and Flossie Sunborno tied. I Miss Miller crowned the queen and 1 Airs J. H. J oil and Miss McPhee I placed a wreath of flowers on the heads I of the other two candidates. | Air. J. H. J oil made an appropriate 1 speech and called for three cheers for ( the candidate which were heartily ‘ given by a largo and interested audiI once. ’ Tho rain coming on made an adjourn- , ment to the Foresters’ Hall necessary I where the little principals were each ’ given a beautiful doll. Mr. J. Falconer kindly lent his lorry I which was gay with Minting and a 1 throne and carried tho children to the i hall where games were indulged in and afternoon tea served to all preI sent. i Alf. E. C. Clarkson and the Rev. R. I Waugh also spoko during the after--1 noon.
