CRICKET.
NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. Christchurch, Oct. 29. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Association was held to-night, Mr. E. H. Williams (pres’dent) being in the chair. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, which was agreed to, the chairman referred to the necessity pf the council taking steps to augment its funds with a view to sending teams abroad. He made feeling reference to the death of Lord Plunket. With regard to the Heathcote Williams Shield, he said he would like to see Waitaki and Wanganui High Schools and. Christ’s College enter the competition and thus assist to stimulate interest in the game. Officers were elected as follows: —patron, the Governor-General, Lord JellicOe; president, Mr. E. H. ’ Williams; vicepresidents, the presidents of the affiliated associations; committee, S. F. Wilson, E. R. CaygilL D. Reese; secretary, Mr. J. F. Peake; treasurer, Mr. W. H. Windsor. It was agreed that it be a recommenda tion to the committee to consider the advisability of holding a North v. Bouth Island match or any other match, including one between the champion associatiion and the rest of the Dominion.
VICTORIA v. SOUTH AUSTRALIA. Adelaide, Oct. 29. For the first inter-State match of the season, Victoria v. South Australia, the weather was line and the wicket fast. Boutn Australia lost four wickets for 134, PeHew 68, Smith 29.
