KID LEWIS BEATS BASHAM. London. Jflne 9. Kid Lewis defeated Basham at Olympia in the welter championship of Europe for a purse of £5,000. The referee stopped the fight in the ninth round, owing to Basham’s weakness and loss of blood. Many spectators previously clamoured to stop the fight.
