HASTINGS WEST SCHOOL.
The Hastings West School Committee met last evening. Present: Messrs. R. A. AVellwood (chairman), Petersen, Baird, Snadden, Lynch and Tims. The headmaster (Mr. G. K. Sinclair) reported. Roll number 329, present 308 or 93 per cent, of the roll number. Air. Hay has erected the basket ball posts with rings, thus making two pitches for basket bail. Air. Alackenzie has erected goal posts for football and the hockey ground has also been laid out. The large area of four and a-half acres thus enables us to have both junior and senior teams of football and basket ball played at the same time. Circulars have been sent to th'e parents asking for contributions towards the shop on Saturday', June sth. It was decided to apply to the Board for additional shelter (shed accommodation). The Education Board the appointment of Airs. M. W. Grey, first assistant, Alt. Cook Girls’ School, Wellington, and of -Miss F. Price, as an additional assistant.
