NEW YEAR’S EVE IN NAPIER.

MERRY CROWDS ON PARADE.

Napier was a very busy town on New Year’s Eve, in fact, it is years since such a large number of people were to be seen. Crowds thronged the streets during the day, and shopkeepers were kept fairly busy, but it was not till the evening that the real festivities started, and Marine Parade presented a gay scene. There were huge crowds about, and. plenty of amusement was provided in the way of side shows, etc., the young folk having the time of their lives. Jolly bands of masqueraders paraded the streets and Parade, and the revelry was kept up until the early hours of the morning. Both bands, turned out and provided music, to which the crowds danced and sang. Extremely interesting was the’Very light display made from Bluff-Hill by vX Thorp, junr. A large crowd witnessed the exhibition.
