JEWEL ROBBERIES.

WEST-ENDERS SCARED. WAR AND CRIME. London, Dec. 31. The frequency of jewel robberies attended with violence is scaring wealthy West Enders, and suggesting the necessity of carrying arms. The “Daily Mail” reports that an eminent nerve specialist, discussing crimes, states that the war has created many thousands of neurotics, but a far more dangerous type is to be seen, men tainted with mama before the war who nevertheless made excellent soldiers. A third type represents sufferers from emotional strain, including men who fought though not believing the war to be necessary. The common theory regarding the influence of shell shock on crime was largely exaggerated.—(United Service.)
