Mrs. C. Golding, of Willow Park Road, has received a cable to say her husband will arrive in New Zealand on board the Giessen, on August 10 th.

Mr. H. Carrick, recently a member of the liferary staff of the Manawatu Daily Times, and for many years sub-editor of the Hawke s Ilerald, has been appointed subeditor of the Eltham “Argus.”
Mr. Clutha Mackenzie, son of Sir Thomas Mackenzie, New Zealand High Commissioner at London, returned to Wellington from Australia bv the Armagh on Wednesday. From England to America he travelled as the guest of Lord Jellicoe on H.M.S. New Zealand.
Owing to the Rev. R. H. Hobday having Ibeen appointed headmaster of the. Diocesan Boys’ High School at Day’s Bay, the Rev. O. M. Stent, vicar of Eastbourne, has gone to Eltham to take temporary charge or the parish. Mr. Hobday, who was vicar of Eltham, has taken charge of the Eastbourne parish until Mr. Stent returns.

On Saturday night, Mr. W. M. Sinclair, who ha,s 'been manager of the Lawrence .branch of the Bank of New Zealand for the past 19 years, and who has just retired on superannuation, was met by a very representative tratherinsr of citizen® in the .ugh •ouncil Chambers and presented with a, substantial token of their appreciation of his services as a banker, and of his many good qualities as a citizen during nis long residence in Lawrence.
Miss Ida Topp, who has been attached to the H.B. Education Board’s staff for five years past and who is leaving to take up a position in the South Island, was yesterday afternoon met by the staff members and farewelled at afternoon tea. The secretary, Mr. Crawshaw, in making a presentation expressed appreciation of Miss Topp’s excellent work during her term of office and wished her all future successinspectors Strachan and Whetter endorsed these remarks and seniorinspector Bird responded on behalf of Miss Topp. She left this morning for the South.
