VISIT OF ANTONIA DOLORES. FAMOUS SOPRANO HERE TOMORROW. That most famous of all French sopranos, Mademoiselle Antonia Dolores, will give a concert at Hastings in the Municipal Theatre to-morrow (Thursday), and Napier to-night. A new programme each night. Tins worldfamed artist has just concluded seasons in Sydney, Melbourne, and Wellington, which for their enthusiasm and success have never been equalled —surely a great triumph even for an artist' like Dolores.. The visit of Antonia Dolores to this city presents a wonderful opportunity for residents bore to hear this world-famed artist in the zenith of her great career. Mademoiselle Dolores sings with rare artistic interpretation and vitality; she has a wide vocal range and her programmes are so arranged that she displays her art to the fullest extent in popular and classical items and arias and such gems of the musical art. She sings in English, French, Italian, and other languages—principally the former —ana whilst audiences display a perhaps natural tendency to hear their own tongue, it is impossible not- to follow the easy flow of melody which comes from some of j the other songs. In this manner • Dolores makes a universal appeal, j wnilst to students and schools she is an education as well as a delight, and in ! this respect alone her visit nere should I prove a peculiarly educative one. The j pianist is Mr. Harold Smith, a distin- ; guished musician who is also heard in j solos. Seats can be booked at Hall and i Sons, while the unreserved tickets are also available. Country residents may reserve by post by enclosing the necessary amount. Concessions are also announced for students and schools, and particularare obtainable at the box olfiee.
