The advanced prices of the imported tobaccos and the strong probability of a further rise in rates before long is attracting the attention of smokers to out N.Z. grown tobaccos “Gold Pouch” and “Three Diamonds.” In this connection it is interesting to note that a new process has recently been introduced in the manufacture of these brands. They are now toasted—to the vast improvement of the flavour. Notwithstanding this new departure in tho manufacture the price remains the same, two ounces for a shilling.
