WHAT ENGINEERS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THE “ MASTER CARBURETTER.” 1 October Utb, I9lf. The Managing Director, The Tourist Motor Co., Ltd., HASTINGS. Dear Sir, The writer has to thank you for yours of the Ist inst. and the prompt manner in which this Carburetter was supplied. As a preliminary report, we tell you that the Carburetter was placed on the J.B.C. car, a run of 76 miles being made, including four stiff hills, and the amount of petrol consumed was 2 gallons 7 pints. The extra speed noted was really surprising, and the power on the hills was a decided improvement. The previous running of car with Carburetter was 17 miles to the gallon; the jet was then made smaller, with the result of 19J miles to the gallon. This was the best that the writer could obtain. On the “ Master ” it works out at practically 25J miles to the gallon, increase 6 miles per gallon. During the run we found that on half acceleration the lever control was put down to the leanest mixture possible, and it is quite probable that we could do with smaller distributor, and would get more economical running still. The one at present in the carburetter is marked “S.” We would be pleased if you ' would forward another—we do not know which way the sizes run, whether it would be an “R” or a “T, as there is no note made of this in the instructions. We would also like to say that the “ Master Carburetter ” yon sent us for the Sunbeam car showed an increase of 11 miles per gallon, with considerably more power on the hills than the previous carburetter fitted to this car. This is an astounding result. Yours faithfully, (Signed) H. GARBUTT, Manager, Booth, Macdonald <t Co., Ltd., DUNEDIN.
