H.B. LICENSING BENCH.
The quarterly meeting of the Hawk ’s Bay Licensing P.ench was held in Hastings to-day, Mr. R. W. Dyer, S.M., presiding. Also present: Messrs L. W. Fowler, A. A. George. A Rosenberg, and Patii Murphy. Hon. A. L. D. Fraser, who is absent in Sydney, recruiting his health has been re-appointed to tbe Bench by the Governor-General, as, owing to his absence, his seat became vacant automatically. The police reports on the hotels were fa vourable. The applications for the transfer of the license of the Puketapu Hotet from Denis Kelleher to William Porter, and for a renewal which haii been adjourned from time to time, to allow of improvements and alterations, ordered by the committee, being varied out, eame. up again. Mr. T. W. Lewis, for the owners, said he had not. been instructed a>s to whether the vommittee’s requirements had been complied with and Sere.'aril Hogan also said he had m> information, hut he attributed tlr? oversight to the fact that the constable at Taradale mid been laid up with influenza. As the committee ha J no information before them, it- was decided to adjourn the applications until January 22, when the committee expected to hear that the Health reqiiiretiiencs had oeeu carried out..
