THE SERVICE AT ST. LUKE’S.
[to the editor-] Sii-, —With regard to the report of the meeting of the Havelock North Town Board, reported in the “Tribune” of Wednesday (Noy. 20th.), I wish to make the following statement of facts: — 1. The Confirmation had been fixed for November 15th., for at least three months. 2. The greatest care was taken to ascertain whether any of the candidates were unwell. Those who were not feeling well, were asked not to come. 3. The time fixed for the yerviee was 7.30 p.m., and the chairman of i' the Town Board rang up the Bishop j at about 6 p.m. | 4. The Bishop asked the chairman i if an order had been issued by the i Public Health Department not to ■j hold services,, and that if so he was I prepared to obey such an order. ; 5. The chairman denied any know- : ledge of such Order having been I issued. 1 ■ 6. The Order of the Public Health Department was not published until the following, day, Saturday, November 16th. Following upon this publication of tihe Order of the Public Health Department all evening Confirmations were immediately cancelled untill the rescinding of the Order. —I am., etc.. W. J. SIMKIN.
