In the same period 41 vessels of 235,052 deadweight tons were completed, whereof thirty-six were of 217,052 deadweight tons, and five wooden vessels of 18,000 deadweight tons. (Received 10, 9.30 a.m.) New York, Aug. 9. _ The New York “Times,” in an editorial, emphasizes the splendid work done in ttie United States by Lord Reading (Sir Rufus Isaacs) and hopes that his visit to England will be but a brief interruption of his extraordinarily useful and valuable labour. Lord Reading has shown remarkable genius for the solution of business problems and was largely instrumental for the splendid success of the co-ordination' of British-American war efforts. —(A. and N.Z )
