CRY FOR PEACE. GERMAN SOCIALISTS. London, Feb. 6. Amsterdam message reports that Bavarian Socialists made a hot attack on the Government’s war policy last week. The Government, they said, made perpetual promises which never materialised. Already Germany had lost at least 2,600,000 men, killed or permanently maimed. People were without clothing, boots, or coal, and were now faced with a world famine. Yet they were asked to rejoice over the sinking of provision ships. .It Mas obvious that these very ships would be needed to bring them food after the war.
The Socialists also lodged a violent protest against Prussian brutalities during the strike, saying that these constituted a peril to the whole German Empire. The Rotterdam correspondent of the New York “World” states that Ludendorff has gone to Berlin to establish a virtual dictatorship for the purpose of upholding the war party’s fast-waning strength.
