HAWKE’S BAY BAKERS.
SUCCESSFUL PICNIC
The Hawke’s Bay bakers were today favoured with perfect weather on the occasion of their holding the annual picnic at Farndon Park. There was a large and representative gathering. The large shady pines afforded the necessary shelter to the picnickers, and although the sun’s rays at times proved slightly severe the cool accompanying breeze added to the pleasant climatic conditions. An interesting programme of races, competitions and other sporting items was gone through and the whole affair went off without a hitch.
Very great credit is due to the energies of the secretary (Mr. R. ,T. Thayer) and his assisting officials, who brought about such a successful function. The prizes, which were numerous and costly, were donated by various citizens to whom hearty thanks are extended.
