The Government Meteorologist’a forecast for the 24 hours from 9 a. in. this day is as follows: — .The indications are for variable and strong breezes, but moderate to strong westerly winds pre--ailing. ARRIVAL AT AUCKLAND

The steamer Waiinana. which arrived at Auckland on Wednesday from London, brought a shipment of thoroughbred stock for New Zealand, in charge of the well-known horseman, T. Childs. who is making his tenth trip to the Antipodes. One lot of eleven youngsters is for Mr. T Duncan, of Wellington. and includes four by Ajax, three by Braxt'd. ami a filly by Magic. Another lot, which goes to Messrs. Buchanan and Griegs, includes a filly by the Dssmond horse Land League (winner of the Cambridgeshire Stakes in 1907). a filly by Lyttelton, a filly By Sir Archibald, and a filly by Cock-a-Hoop. from Herb o’ Grace, who is by Carbine’s son Spearmint. There are also two colts—one by Galena and the other by Tathain. Lieutenant Dean, of Lyttelton. who has been wounded at tlie front, purchased the stallion Clarenceaux. v.h.c won the Derby Gold Cup in 1911. He is a fine-looking animal, and is bv King’s Messenger from Squint 11. The horses have stood the voyage V r 11. despite extiTincly cold weather. Tn addition to the horses the shipment includes two prize bulls i'liereford and Jersey), and some rams.
