CASUALTIES.

ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. Wellington, Oct. 18. While driving a motor van near Point Jeningham this morning two employees of the Union Company saw a man lying on the roadside. He was sent to the hospital.. He gave the name of Chas. Waters Lynch, and said he was an Australian about forty years of age, an accountant by occupation, and lately came to Wellington from Whakatane. He was found to be suffering from a bullet wound in the head and one a few inches below the heart, and he told the police he had shot himself with a revolver about 8 o’clock last night. He added that he had not been in good health lately. Lynch is now in the hospital and is reported to be progressing satisfactorily. CHILD DROWNED. Auckland, Oct. 19. I The two-year-old daughter of Mr [ Molloy, a resident of Huntly, was ! drowned at Campbell’s Bay while J playing on the beach with her ! brother who was a little older.
