HASTINGS ORANGEMEN.

CHURCH PARADE SERVICE.

The members of b'ae Hastings Orange Lodges, accompanied by members of the Order from the surrounding district, to the number of about 60, attended a parade service iu the Methodist Church yesterday morning. They marched in proces- | sion to the church, headed by the j Town Band, under Conductor _F. Hopkinson. The congregation quite filled t-he large church, and an appropriate sermon, conducted by the Rev. M. A. Rugby Pratt, fittingly opened with the National Anthem. The minister welcomed the visitors and read the “Qualifications of an Orangeman”—the members of the body standing. A eermon based on the words “Earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered unto the saints,” was preached by Mr. Pratt, and held t£ie rapt attention of the congregation. He appealed for loyalty to the foundation principles of Protestantism and for such a proclamation of positive truth in a spirit of literature and love as would overcome the errors they deplored. Their heritage was a noble one and their Protestant name a badge of honour. These bad been dearly bought and should be highly valued and loyally defended. The service was deeply impressive throughout and was much enjoyed by the participants.
