There was little alteration along the back stretch, where Ngatiruanui pulled up, Tim Doolan and Ngatoa closing on the leaders. Morning fell at the second jump of the kennels double, where Ngatoa- ran to tin- front. Tim Doolan fell at ihe top turn, and Glenmore at the foot of the straight, leaving Ngatoa- to win by 20 lengths from The Brewer, with Golden Glow third. Captain Mackay and Cardiff also completed the course. Time. 7min 13sees.
