ONGA ONGA

(Own Correspondent).

A football match was played at Onga Onga on Saturday between the Waipukurau seniors and the local team, and resulted in a win for the home team, after a ding go, by 3 points to nil. Air. E. Coles was responsible for the try, which was not converted. The game, was abruptly brought to a close owing to the unsportsmanlike argument of one of the players. A collection was taken up in aid of the wounded at the front, and this, wih the proceeds from a dance held in the evening, was accountable for a tidy sum being realised for this fund. Declaration Day was observed here with the customary resolution and other like indications, as evidence of the determination of the residents to do their utmost share in the' present struggle. The township is likely to receive a considerable influx of visitors on Thursday, on account of the stock and land sales which are to take place.
