The monthly meeting of the Makotuku School Committee was held on Saturday. Present : Messrs. P. Gason, J. AV. Million, and D. Mann. In the absence of the chairman (Mr. Berkahn). Mr. Gasson was voted to tho chair. The master’s report showed the present roll number to be 87 and the average attendance 81.3. Miss W. M. Avery, who has been appointed temporary assistant mistress, commenced her duties last Tuesday. Mr. Alildon offered to attend to the pump, which is out of repair, and Mr. D. Maim promised to deliver the manure which is required for the garden. Regarding the lapping of the trees on the western side of the school, it-was resolved that the visiting committee should report at- next- meeting. Messrs. .Mildon and Gasson were, appointed a visit ing committee. A most enjoyable dance was held in the I-orcsters’ Hall, Alakot-uku, on Saturday night. There was a large attendance and delightful music was supplied by Miss O. Carmichael. Mr. Hendry gave several vocal items during the ’'veiling, v. hicb -.’. ere much appreciated. A dainty supper provided li.v the ladies was much enjoy ml.
