WHAT LORD ROBERTS SAID.

Till* judgment of the late Field Mar-hal Lord Roberts in affairs military wa-~ never seriously questioned by friend or toe. Where his opinions were questioned and. at times, overruled by superiors, later developments proved the 'wisdom of Ins advice and the tolly ot n< t follow ing ii . The ro.-iit death of this great hero who did so much tor British India and the I nion of South Africa, and whoso memory is honoured by the whole world, tails again to mind his famous report to the British Parliament following the South African War. The rigours of that rugged eoitntiy tried out the Field Marshal’s transportation equipment to such a severe degree, that only those vehicles which were built for lifelong wear could withstand the terrific strain. Vehicles built everywhere were used, and a thorough comparison was made by the army officials. The result was epitomized in the-e words of the great hero: “Waggons were imported from the United States ami these proved superior to any other make, either of Cape or English manufacture. They were built l.y Messrs. Studebaker Brothers, Mfg. Co.. who have a great vehicle factory at South Bend, Indiana, U.S.A.” Studebaker men can drive home the supreme argument that the same Studebaker Company —inspired by the same ideals; compelled to keep up that giltedged reputation ter quality goods: backed by the same unlimited and unexcelled manufacturing facilities—-is producing motor vehicles which likewise have proven “Superior to” other makes —“Because they are Studebakers.’’ Studebaker men can readily make their prospects understand, from the above, why the battlefields of Europe are now thickly dotted with Studebaker motor ambulances and motor transports which are giving dependable service to the Red Cross and the fighting forces—- “ Because they are Studebakers."'
