NAPIER BOROUGH ESTIMATES.

_At last night's meeting of the Napier Borough Connci], the Town Clerk reported as follows on tne estimated rcce’pts and expenditure ior the year ending 31st March : - ‘‘The estimates are based on the actual workings of last year and on the workings for the pas! four months ot the current year. Provision has been made for the additional expenditure of Cloiio authorised by the council to provide employment I'm- the employees during the next few- month*. Each branch of expenditure ha* received the most careful consideration and unless some imforseen expenditure should require tn bo met between now and the end of the year the estimati* should no, be exceeded. To provide sufi-iient rex.tmc to meet the expenditure it will be tienecessary to strike the same general rates and the same water rates as were struck last year, that is I',<! in the .£ general rate and :jd in the -£ water rate. The total amount of the special rates is the same as last year.
