DIRECTORS ANTICIPATE ADJUSTMENT. Auckland, Sept. 24. The directors state there is an increased number of men working todav. and an early adjustment of the difficulty’ is anticipated. MR. SEMPLE AND THF. MEETING. REMOVING A WRONG IMPRESSION.

Wellington. Sept. 24Mr. Robert Semple emphatically l denies that he telegraphed the statement insinuating, that he and Mr. Webb attended the meeting at Huntly for the purpose of advising the miners what to do as regards their conditions of work. The meeting. he said, was a public one cabled to discuss what should be done to best assist the sufferers through the disaster and it passed the following resolution: —‘That for the purpose of securing unity of action in organisation of the Relief Fund, in connection with the mining disaster at Huntly, this meeting of Huntly citizens ca ls upon the present executive of the Huntly Miners Union to resign and submit themselves for re-election by the union present at the meeting solely with the idea of doing what they could to help the wives and children of the men who lost their lives.” Mr. Semple added: ‘‘l did not know the meeting was to be held until I arrived in Huntly that day.”
