BERAGOON INJURED. Sydney, Sept. 22. Beragoon, the Metropolitan favourite, finished a gallop lame. It was discovered that he had struck himself under the knee. His owner intends to scratch him for all engagements. Lily Veil has been scratched for the Epsom. The “Daily Telegraph” says that Beragoon has probably run his last race and will go to the stud. On Saturday, for the first time in the Dominion since the war started, the totalisator returns showed an in crease, the amount passing through the machines on the concluding day of the Avondale. Jockey Club’s spring meeting totalling £30,712. This made a total for the meeting of £51,280 10/-, an increase of £1379 on last year’s figures.
