THE RUSSIAN INVASION.
Severe Fighting in the North. It eported Defeat of the Austrians. ’Received 21, 5.30 a.m.) London, Aug. 20. OFFICIAL. Russian cavalry repulsed an Austrian cavalrydivision with heavv losses near Satanoft, on the Podolian irontier,, after a five hours’ engagement. (Received 21, 9 a.m.) St. Petersburg, Aug. 20. OFFICIAL. Three Austrian infantry regiments and four batteries attacked Krasnik. The light lasted all day. The Russians were reinforced, and captured six officers and 250 men. The Austrians hastily retreated at night, after severe losses. The Russians occupied Gumbinncn, capturing twelve guns and many prisoners. Russian outposts near Lumsk defeated the Austnaa patio , killing and wounding 60, and capturing 130.
(Received 21, 9 a.m.) Nish, Aug. 20. At ' Stabarz the Servians annihilated two Austrian cavalry squadrons, three infantry regiments arid captured six quickfirers. also many horses and rifles.
