Yesterday’s fierce nor’-wester was followed by rain, which started at 6.30 ard continued in intermittent showers during the forenoon, leaving the grounds a trifle heavy. As the rain fell steadily it was decided to postpone the beginning till 9.30 when there were indications of an improvement in the weather.
