EMPIRE RESOURCES.

GRI EVA NC ES VEXTI I. A TED. London, Nov. 8. Representatives of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce complained of the inadequate time allowed by the Australian and New Zealand Governments for tenders. In many eases the time was so limited that it was impossible for British firms to tender except by cable. They also protested against the proposal to amend the New Zealand Income Tax Act in order to tax the business of non-resident traders. The representative of the Manchester Ship Canal urged the deletion from Australian charters of the clause prohibiting the use of the ship on the canal. All other countries had done so.
