TRADES AND LABOUR COUNCIL.
The Hawke’s Bay Trades and Labour 'Council met in the Trades Hall. Napier, last evening. there living a full attendance of delegates. It was decided to write to each of the Borough Councillors asking them if they would agree to address the public before the next municipal i election stating what their platform It was resolved to write to the I Mavor and councillors asking wl;ati| had been done with regard to the j ...n-shil’ing s< at> at the Muni-, i-:nal Theatre which were supposed I to have been reserved for the work-1 < is ; also, to enter a protest .against! the appointment of a caretaker without the position hating been advertised. It was further decided to protest against the council having the valuable ground east of the theatre prepared for a motor car stand, as it v. as considered that it could be utilised for a better purpose. Comment was made on a letter received from the secretary of the Children's Home, in which an imitation from the council for the children to be their guests at the Labour Day Sports was declined, thei reason given being that it would in- I terfere with their education, and it j was pointed out that hundreds, of j other children had attended and i benefited by the outing. i
