At the wool sales there was good competition lor all sorts, and prices, were firm at opening rates. BOSTON WOOL MARKET. (Received 26, 9.45 a.m.) New York, Sept. 25.
The Boston wool market reports that 65 per cent, of the 1912 c-Hp has been sold.
Messrs. De Pelichet, McLeod anti Co., Ltd., report having received the following cable from their London house:—“ Wool sales have opened. Compared with closing rates of last series, prices for greasy and scouret'i merino are 21 per cent, higher; greasj halfbred, 50/56’s, 2.) per cent. ; greasy threequarterbred, 46’s, superior (American sorts) 5 per cent., 46’s fair averagi 5 per cent. ; greasy crossbred, -10's. superior (American sorts) 5 per cent.. -10’s fair average “1 per cent., 36’s 7J per cent., lambs 7) per cent.; slipe. threequarter-bred 5 per cent., crossbred 5 per cent., halfbred lambs par, threequarterbred lambs 5 per cent., Lincoln lambs 5 per cent, higher.”
Messrs. Williams and Kettle, Ltd., have received the follow ing advice from their London agents: —“ Wool sales have opened. Good attendance of buyers. Competition is keen, especially for coarse crossbred. Expect prices tc be maintained throughout the series. There is an advance upon the closing rates of last sale as follows: —Half bred 2) per cent, advance, fine crossbred 2, per cent., medium coarse crossbred f per cent., coarse crossbred 71 per e.-nt.. lamb 71 per cent.”
TALLOW. London, Sept. 25. There were 3321. casks offered, and 3168 sold. Fine mutton 40 6, other? par to 6d advance. FROZEN Al EAT. The C.C. and D. Company, Ltd. London, have cabled the following re port of the frozen meat market “ The general tone of the market it weaker. Values have declined. Today’s prices are as follows Canterbury mutton 4’d, Napier, Wellington and Nos th Island 4?d ; prime Canter bury lamb sj’d. North Island s;d ; beef hindquarters 3jd, forequarters 3id.” STORTI’ORD LODGE SALE. There was a fair yarding at Stortford Lodge sale yest-'rday. No fat cattli were offering, and only a few head o: store cattle. Fat wethers brought up to 25 8 and fat ewes to 16. 3. A bij. line of 2000 4-todth wethers was passed in at 39.-. A small pen of 4-tooth wethers realised 19/3. Fat and fori ward ewes sold at 16/7.
