LAUNCH PICKED UP.

BY THE PUTIKI. Wellington, July 23. The Secretary of the Marine Department yesterday received a'telegram from the Collector of Customs at Westport stating that Captain Wahlstrom, of the coastal steamer Putiki .picked up an oil launch about )6 miles north-east of Farewell Spit light-house on Sunday morning. The hull of the launch is of kauri, painted white with a green stripe house. The motor is a Union oil engine of three-horse power. The mast was stepped and the sail awash overboard. An anchor, with two fathoms of rope, was out over the side. The launch, which bears no name, was towed to M estport by the i’utiki. The local agents for the Putiki have received a telegram giving the launch’s dimensions as length 23ft. breadth 7ft.
