TONGOIO WASHOUT.

BRIDGE COMPLETED. Mr. D. N. McMillan, District Roads’ Engineer, went out to Tongoio yesterday afternoon and took over the bridge and embankment across the lagoon from the contractor, Mr. R. McGaffin, who was represented by his foreman, Mr. J. Burnett. The building of the embankment across the lagoon and erecting the bridge has taken exactly one year and in taking over the vv ork, our correspondent states. Mr. .Xh-Millan complimented the contractor on. the substantial and faithful way in which it had been carried out in every detail. At 3.30 Mr. J. Vigor Brown. M.P.. ami some friends arrived and motored across the embankment and over the new road west of the lake to the point where it again joins the WaironNapiei' road. The party left again for Napier at -1 p.m. The news that the bridge is completed will be received with great satisfaction.
