AUSTRALIAN ITEMS. Sydney, June 29. The Moorefield Hurdle Race resulted as follows: —The Dip 1, Coachman 2, Pakau 3. Won by two lengths. Five starters. Time, 4min. 3see. The Flying Handicap resulted : — Mavus 1. Sunburnt 2, Blackpool 3. Wen by half a length. There were 13 starters. Time, Imin. 18sec. Melbourne, June 29.
The Williamstown Steeplechase resulted as follows: —King Darius 1, Bibbod 2, Koroitc 3. Eleven starters. Time, -Imin. 24|sec. THEFT OF SOULTORIA. NO TRACE OF THE MARE. Although the Pukekohe district has been scoured by the police and others, no trace has yet been found of the mare Soultoria, which was taken from her stable on Tuesdaynight last. The theft appears to have been exceedingly well planned, and was evidently the work of no ordinary horse thief. The police and detectives are making every effort to get on the trail, and the owners are offering a substnantial reward for the recovery of the mare or for any information that will lead to the conviction of the thieves. Word has been sent to every police office throughout the Dominion, giving a full description of the daughter of Seult, ar.d nothing is being left undone to catch the offenders. who will probably try to get her out of NewZealand or else keep her hidden for some time till the sensation dies down.
