FORMATION OF EDUCATIONAL CLASSES.
The Y.M.C.A. officials are evidently quite up-to-date and determined that the association shall speedily justify its existence. They have already macle arrangements to establish educational classes in Hastings. Mr. H. E. Stanton has been secured ns instructor, and, as announced in an advertisement this evening, the first Classes will be conducted at the Y.M.C.A. rooms on Friday next, June 7th. Mr. Stanton is evidently well fitted for this post, for he w r as until quite recently instructor of the Auckland Y.M.C.A. classes. He has had eight years’ practical experience as a State school teacher and has specialised in commercial aqd night school classes. He holds a number of excellent testimonials. A special feature of these classes will be the individual instruction and the attention giveh to backward teachers. .Classes are now bei”g formed in bookkeeping, shorthand, arithmetic, commercial correspondence, English, grammar and composition. Other subjects will be taken if necessary and pupils will be prepared for 6th Standard proficiency certificates, junior service and matriculation examinations without any extra change. Only a limited number can be taken so intended students are advised to apply early. Mr. Stanton will be in attendance to interview and to give information at the Y.M.C.A. rooms, Station street, on Tuesday next, from 8 to 9 p.m. Information can also be obtained from the general secretary.
