CASUALTIES.

LOCOMOTIVE FIREMAN INJURED. Taihape, April 20. A railway fireman named D. V. Round, was brought into the hospital suffering from a serious fracture of the skull. He was fixing a ’ shovel at the back of the tender in the vicinity of an overhead bridge at Mntaroa about 5 a.m. The driver missed him and found him lying on his back at the end of the tender. It is assumed that he struck the bridge. His condition is critical. It. is believed that he belongs to ’Leeston or Christchurch.
