A smoke concert was held in the Public Hall 0:1 Wednesday evening. The object of the gathering, whiep was largely attended, was to make a presentation to Mr. Jack Sutherland on the occasion of his man-iage to Miss Hopkinson. Mr. A. J. Duncan was in the chair, and during the evening he asked Mr. Sutherland’s acceptance of a handsome case of cutlery on behalf of the bachelors end others. Mr. Duncan referred to the good qualities of Mr. Sutherland and his readiness to help in all matters of social interest in the settlement. He concluded by wishing him and bis'-wife much hanpincss in their future life. Mr. Sutherland on b<-half of Mrs Sutherland and himself suitably replied, thanking them for their expression of goodwill. A pleasant evening was spent in song and social intercourse.
