BOY SERIOUSLY HURT. ' Auckland, Aprl 14. A boy named Berte btanley had both thighs and his left arm fractured yesterday at Northcote. He was having a ride on a baker’s cart with another boy, and while the man in charge was delivering bread it is understood that the horse ran off. The vehicle capsized, the ether lad falling clear. FATAL FALL FROM A HORSE. ■Christchurch, April 13. William Toon. 49, a resident of Addington, was killed by a fall from a young horse yesterday. He was about to dismount when the horse threw him. He struck a gate heavily with his back, receiving injuries which proved fatal. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. William Henry Williams, 3R. compositor, was admitted to the hospital last night suffering from the effects of poison, supposed to have been self-administered. His condition was then serious, but he was slightly better this morning. BOY SHOT DEAD. Auckland, April 15. Harold Palmer, aged 15 years, was accidentally shot dead at Mnnurewa. It is understood that Palmer went out with a companion in the morning | on a shooting expedition. His parents reside at Weymouth. They came to this district three years ago from Wanganui. THE WOMAN PAYS. Auckland, April 15. j Ellen Carroll, a single woman, | aged 29 years, died at the resilience | of her parents, at Parnell, as a result I of lysol poisoning. She had pre-1 viously been ill and consulted a doe-, tor, who found her in a certain condition. He alvised her to talk the matter over with her mother. The jury returned a verdict of lysol poisoning during a state of temporary insanity. GISBORNE DROWN ING FATALITY. Gisborne, April 15. At the inquest on Gordon Brown and Leonard Goatley. who were drowned last week by being swept off the western groyne, a verdict of accidental drowning was returned. The Magistrate commended the action of Hewitt Douglas, and said his conduct was worthy of recognition bv the Roval Humane Society.
