THE EMPEROR’S PEACE OF MIND. (Received 3, 8.5 5a.m.) Vienna, April 2. The Government has abandoned the recruit resolution. Count Hedervary, in his statement to the House, said he would not make a secret of Emperor Francis Joseph’s intention to abdicate. He explained that it was the Government’s duty to restore the Monarch s peace of mind. Stormy cries: ‘ r Long live the King.” Opposition cries: "Long live the Heir.”

Whereupon there followed great uproar.
