TO WRESTLE GOTCH.

LATEST JOHNSON STORY. Chicago, Jan. 28. The latest Jack Johnson story is that the chainpion has been offered £6OOO to wrestle Frank Gotch at Salt Lake City. “I have decided.” Johnson is reported to have said, “that I am the man to defeat Gotch and become both wrestling and boxing champion of the world. I may not be able to throw him, but 1 am prepared to take the chance. I will wrestle him in April or Mav, and fight again in July.”

Mr. F. Shefski, a former sporting editor, says he has got the backing of a wealthy mining man to stage the Johnson-Gotch wrestling match, and declares that if articles are signed the contest will be decided on Mav l.

Johnson will leave for New York to-morrow. He is anxious to fight there and test the ruling barring his appearance in the city.
