TARIFF REVISION. ' 'Washington, Feb. 6. The tariff fight has opened in the Senate. The Finance Committee has begun the discussion in the House of Representatives of a bill-for revising the iron and steel schedule of the Payne Aldrich tariff. TARIFF THE MOTHER OF TRUSTS. (Received 7. 8.35 a.m.) London, Feb. 6. The “Times” Washington correspondent, referring to fiscal legislation which even the extreme protectionists admit is inevitable- declares the reform movement will become active in consequence cf the growdig suspicion that the tariff is the mother of trusts, and adds that, it is a social or political rather than ar economic issue.
