CASUALTIES.
ROY INJURED BY FIREYVOR-KS. Mr. R. Warren's son, Dudley, aged about 12 years, met with a painful accident on Monday last while dipcharging fireworks at the rear of Mr. Warren’s premises in Heretaung.i Street, Hastings. A match had been applied tc a sky-rocket, and as it did not take its departure heavenwards, the lad began to investigate, when the bomb exploded. It has not been discovered where the missile actually struck him, but his face received the full charge cf the powder, a great deal of which lodged in his. c-ye-s. His face was, also considerably burnt. Mr. Warren was near by at the time of the accident, and Dr. Nairn, who was quickly in attendance, temporal ily dressed the wounds. Yesterday Dr Nairn succeeded in removing most of the powder which had embedded itself in the pupil of the eyes, and though the operation was extremely painful, the lad bore it like a Bii'.cn. It is net anticipated that the sight of tho cyts will be permanently affected. Dr. Nairn stated the force cf the explosion was sufficient to hare blown the Ley’s head off.
