FIRES.

A SYDNEY BLAZE. (Received 16, 10.0 a.m.) Sydney, Oct. 16. Fire early this morning gutted the premises of Messrs. Smith, Copeland Co., tarpaiding manufacturers, in Clarence Street. Damage was done to the adjoining properties. The damage is extensive. [per press association.] TWO COTTAGES AT GISBORNE. Gisborne, Oct. 16. Fire destroyed a cottage owned by Mr. Whinray and occupied by Mr. Ryan. It was insured for £l5O in the Standard. Another owned by Mr. Tattley at Auckland and unoccupied was also burnt down. Insurance is not available. HOUSE AT LEVIN. Levin, Oct. 16. On Saturday night fire destroyed Ohan House, owned and occupied by an old settler named W. Corner. He went to the railway station leaving the fire alight and by the time he returned everything was destroyed. The furniture was insured for £2OO and the building for £3OO in the Norwich.
