M\N IWATU LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP. WON ’EY MRS GUY WILLIAMS. Palmerston N„ Oct. 13 A high wind and driting rain prevailed to dav when the Manawatu Ladies’ Open G.df Tournament was concluded. In the semi-finals of the champion ship Mrs Guv Williams beat Miss Pearce 4 up and 3 to play, and Miss Gorric beat Miss Gould 2 up. The final between Mrs Williams and Miss (7. Gorric commenced after lunch, and in spite of the weather both playti'i good golf. The match resulted in favour of Mrs Williams by 3 up and 2 to play. The Consolation Match was won by Miss Carter and Miss Hamlin with 81. Miss Humphreys won the putting competition. TAKAPAU CLUB. 1
Tiie eup presented by Mr. J. B. A’Dcane was competed for on Wednesday. and was wen for t|ie find time by J. Richardson, Waipukurati. Richardson was in good form, his driving, as is usual with this fine player, being uncommonly lengthy The second place was tied for by S. Reid and W. Ellingham. Miss Jolinso!i has taken on golf this year, an I did a very creditable round in tieeup match. The handicappers, Messrs R. Russell and S. Ropatn rlid their work well, ami the satisfaction. given bv the hand'eaps was fully endorsed by the scores handed in. Afternoon tea was served on the links by Mrs H. Russell and Mrs IV. Ellingham.
