The following toasts were honoured : —“The King” (proposed by (he ehairman), “Northern League” (proposed by the chairman and.responded to by Messrs. Fulton and responded to by .Messrs. T. Proetor and J. Kidcell). "Kindred Sports” (proposed by Mr. H. Pritchard and responded ;,o by Messrs. D. Jackson on behalf of hookey. Fulton on behalf of crit'k;t, Pointon on behalf of swimming. Pi lersoti on behalf of cycling, Cameron on Behalf of athletics, anel 3’. Cooke on behalf cf ipotball). “Host ami Hostess’ ’(proposed by Mr. Proctor and responded to by Mr. H. Uiar.de Fox). “Donors of Trophies,” "The Chairman,” and “The President.” During ihe evening Mr. George Fratci* was presented with a set of brushes, the chairman asking his acceptance of the gift on behalf of the team that went on tour recently. Tim shield, given by the patron and won by Ahuriri seniors, and the silver cup, given by Mr. W. Lane (Hastings), and wen by the Ahuriri juniors, were presented by the chairman, Messrs. G. Smith and J. Pointon accepting them on behalf of the club. The proceedings were enlivened by songs and recitations from Messrs. Pritchard, Brock, Ci'nckneFi, Hieknreti and Carey. BAPTIST CONFERENCE. The sittings of ihe Baptist Conference in Napier were continued on Saturday. ‘
In Ihe forenoon a business session was held, when the question of open membership came up for consideration, the Rev. R. H. K. Kempton being the leader. In the afternoon the delegates were driven through Greenmeadotfb and Taradalc to Hastings, here they visited the Fiimley orchard. Whilst at Hartings the party were entertained to afternoon tea by Mr. M. IV. P. Lascelles. A committee meeting was held in.
th-' evening. Yesterday a service was held m the Baptisl Church, the Rev. E. A. Kirwood being the preacher. A mm’s meeting was held in the Emmie Theatre in the afternoon, the i'r-’kers being the Revs. H. L. Elliott and E. H. Hobday. Mr. R. Milligan was chairmen. Last evening a well-attended open ah- service was held near the Marine Parade rotunda. Tc-Jay the conference was conf.vmed. ' A devotional service being '’i ld at ».3(» a.m.. this being followed by a session of union at, 10 a.jn. A temperance demonstration will be .given this evening at 8 o’clock.
