A number of the executive were present, also a very fair attendance of general members. The Ft ihling Society wrote expressing pleasure with the recent competitions and congratulating the society on its excellent report. The annual report was pi t sent i d. dealing at length with the tear's work, and adopted on the m0t..11 of the chairman. Dr. Sutton was proposed for membership, and Messrs. .1. Clarke, Thompson. fl. There are I2i> honorary and ordinary timbers of the society. Mr. Bishop, treasurer, said that the rules provided distinctly ti.at it was the incoming executive which had to present rhe balance sheet. The present executive had no power to prepare a balance-sheet. The figures supplied were only for guidance of the public. Mr. J. Vigor Brown was re-elected President. Mr. W. Plowman was re-elected Vice -pre--; -(ent. Before proceeding with the election of secretary. Mr.- Martin expressed for the executive hearty thanks for the way Mr. Wright had catied out h'-s duties. No one could have carried out his dut'es more as<dduou?!y than he had done. He read the text of m illuminated address which it was proposed to present to Mf Wright. Mr. Wright briefly returned thanks for the expression of thanks. Mr. Wright vv-ts then formally elected secretary amidst applause. The following gentlemen were nominated Lr the e.xaiit.ve: Messrs A. Mr. Smyrk moved that it be a recommendation to the incoming i -.'' entire in view « f the c-trly temple tiuii of the Municipal Theatre, and consequent increased aevoimnutlatioii. to institute a system of family tickets witth a view to further popularising the competition.
