At an anti-Home Rule demonstration at Belfast a hundred thousand marched in a procession. Twenty thousand arrived by special trains from all parts of I Ister. Earl Erne presided. A ri-solut ion was pa ssed pledging the meeting to suppor-. Sir Edward Carson vvhatever action he might, take and whatever danger they might find in ceimevt ion with Home Rule.

Sir.-Edward Carson said liis first duty was to ensure that under no circumstances could any Home Ruh* Bill be made effective as far as the Unionists of Ulster were concerned.

Sir Edward added: “They must be prepared should the emergency occur, to be accountable for the adjninistration of those districts which thev were entitled to control. (Cheers.) Lord Ranfurly was present at. the demonstration and Lord Hugh Cecil telegraphed staling they must defend the Union a.s their ancestors had defended Londonderry.
