Il is with deep re I gret we have to record the death ol one of the society’s most enthnsias- I lie members in the person of the late | Mr. Sam Williams, who was one ol the original promoters of the soei ety, and from (he time of its inception up to thi* time of his death he held office as secretary and trea-i surer. The loss Io the society is an l irreparable one. As a slight mark of the esteem in which he was held by the menib(*rs of the society, your committee had a headstone erected over the grave to perpetuate tlie memory of a faithful officer .and loyal I frieijd. The vacancy- thus caused on the executive has been very ably filled by Mr. G. Tmlehope. The society has suffered anoth. :• loss in the death of Mr. Fred Slate)-, lion, attdi- | tor to the society, and the sympathy of members will be extended to the deceased’s relatives in their sad bereavement. Your committee wish specially to thank the presideal (Mr. I G. Morley) for his loyal support and assistance to the society since its inception, Mr. Byatt for his valu-! able assistance as the lion, scenic artist ;also of Mr. Talbot for his efficient work in the capacity of property master. The society- are to be I congratulateil on having, in Messrs, iJ. A. Rosew.n-ne and G. C. Ly ttelton, a stage manager and musical [director who understand their duties. The thanks of the society are also (hie to .Messrs. Nicholson and Gunn for their excellent work in producj ing the scenery for our recent pi-o- -] duction of "The Runaway Girl.” I Finally, your committee wish to [thank the members as a whole for , i their hearty i-o-operatioi. during the [part twelve months (also Miss RogHers, ’he society's pianist, for her .[valuable assistance during the re|cent season.
