POLICEMAN MORTALLY WOUNDED.

(Received 25, 9.0 a.m.) Ottawa, Aug. 24. A policeman accosted three housebreakers in daylight in a back street of Winnipeg. The latter fired and wounded the policeman mortally. Another policeman appeared on the scene and held the thieves with his revolver. The criminals were finally captured when their revolvers were empty.
