THE NEW HEBRIDES

THE CONDOMINION A FARCE

[press association. —COPYRIGHT].

(Received 25, 9.30 a.m.) Sydney, Aug. 25

Rev. Patton, a well-known missionary, and Doctor Bowie, superintendent of Amdrim Hospital, have arrived from New Hebrides. Both state the condominion is a howling farce and a failure. The British keep law and the French do not. Both Patton and Bowie agree that none of the previous reports are in any way exaggerated. The entente cordiale is a humbug so far as New Hebrides is concerned. Residents call the Court at Vita a bazaar, and go there for amusement. It is so funny that many take lunch and stay there all day.

Dr. Bowie is going direct to the British Foreign Office with a definite charge supported by documents.
